Wow, what an amazing copper dial. This 1940s Draconis Dual-Register Chronograph is a total gem. This watch is features a stunning copper dial with a perfect warm patina. The up-down design of this chronograph was common during the 1940s. The chronograph has large sub-registers which makes legibility easier and gives the watch a “Big Eyes” look. The watch also features a rare 45 minute register instead of the usual 30 minutes. The watch has beautiful authentic heat blued steel hands all around. The watch comes on a restored vintage beads of rice bracelet. The watch features a new acrylic crystal, finely cleaned dial and hands, a restored original case that is finished to OEM specs, a restored bracelet, and a movement that has been overhauled and restored to OEM specs. The watch is in beautiful restored condition as per our extensive restoration and authentication process.

This Draconis chronograph features the Venus 170 column wheel horizontal clutch movement which runs at 18,000 vph. The Venus 170 was an interesting movement that popularized a shaft-based horizontal clutch rather than a regular gear wheel. The movement is hand wind and has a good power reserve. The watch is 34mm in diameter, which was on the larger size for men’s watches at the time. The 18mm bracelet is suitable for wrists up to 7.25″.

If you want a watch with an eye catching dial and is possibly one of a kind, check out this Draconis chronograph.

As with all our restored pieces we sell, this 1940s Draconis Chronograph comes with our zero-headache warranty.
