The Mido 917 watch movement, used during the period 1957-1962, was the first movement family to feature a micro rotor for self-winding. It incorporated a self-winding gear, with direction switching facilitated by a pinion positioned between two large jewels. In models with 17 jewels, one of these jewels was replaced with a polished steel disc. Additionally, early samples of the Buren 1006 were used, bearing the signature 1001A of its predecessor. The movement boasted several functions: automatic winding, sweep second hand, and a date complication that could be set by adjusting the time between 23:30 and 24:00. It also included Incabloc Shock Protection.
