The Girard Perregaux 32.5 watch movement, introduced in 1948, was the first automatic movement to incorporate a ball-bearing rotor. It has later variations with different rotor shapes. Equivalent models in the ETA movement family, such as the 1216-1218, lack the ball bearing feature. This movement includes the functions of automatic winding, sweep second, and has been used since 1948.
