The Fontainemelon 65-4 watch movement, used starting from 1958, features an integrated winding gear within the movement, deviating from the conventional approach of attaching it to a manual-wind calibre. This design choice allowed for an acceptable height despite the relatively high base movement. Furthermore, the movement incorporates a detached manual wind mechanism. Notably, instead of a friction spring, the accurate motion of the indirect sweep second hand is facilitated by a magnet housed in a bushing, with the sweep-second arbor gliding along the polished surface of the magnet. In addition, this movement encompasses functions such as automatic winding, sweep second hand, and a date setting achievable by changing the hours between 22 and 24.
