The ETA 871 watch movement features a unique design in which the train and hand gear are separately driven by the barrel. This design allows for a low profile and provides space for a large balance, although it requires high precision and shake-free gears due to the coupling between the second- and minute hands. The movement offers manual winding, sweep seconds, and a date function that can be set by changing the time from 19.40 to 24 hours. It was commonly used around 1975.
