The Bulova 2186 watch movement, used from 1969 onwards, incorporates a non-self-starting design where the balance is locked in place when the crown is pulled. This balance reliably starts when the crown is pushed. The movement features an electromechanically controlled balance motor, a back crown, a jumping sweep second, and an electrical and mechanical hack feature.
